Zook Sets Program Record for 36-Holes with 145 Strokes; Second-Lowest Round with 70

SAN DIMAS, Calif.Ashley Zook broke the program record for lowest 36-hole score as she fired 145 strokes to lead Cal Lutheran women's golf at the Claremont Challenge. Zook tied for fourth at 1-over-par as the Regals placed fourth at 48-over-par.

The team competed in its second tournament of the fall, playing 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament featured seven teams and 40 individuals. It was held at San Dimas Canyon and had a Par of 72. The Regals recorded 624 strokes, 315 in the first round and 309 in the second, and tied the fourth-lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Competing with Zook was Jett Legacion, Tara Ng, Maya dela Rama, Beth Milne and Claire Cornejo.

Zook was the top golfer for the Regals. She recorded a 75 to start her tournament and then fired a 2-under-par 70. Her round of 70 was the second-lowest in program history.

Legacion and Cornejo were next as three Regals placed in the top-30. Legacion tied for 11th as she improved throughout the tournament. She shot a 77 on day one and came back with a 75 on day two. She totaled 152 strokes and was 8-over-par. Cornejo placed 28th at 19-over-par with 163 strokes (84-79).

Ng tied for 31st with 21-over-par and 165 strokes (79-86), Milne tied for 34th at 25-over-par with 169 strokes (84-85) and dela Rama placed 36th at 26-over-par with 170 strokes (82-88).

The Regals have one more tournament in the fall as they prepare for their spring season. Cal Lutheran will start the George Fox Invitational next Sunday, Oct. 2, at Willamette Valley Golf Club in Canby, Ore.
