Electrifying Victory as Kingsmen Take Series from Redlands

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Zach Hardman came in relief and pitched a 2.1 innings, Kyle Reuser hit a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the eighth and Cal Lutheran baseball defeated Redlands 6-4 to take the series. 

The teams split on Saturday, and the Kingsmen were fired up on Sunday. The Purple and Gold took the series with the Bulldogs for the second time this year. 

Hardman got his first win of the season, and looked impressive as he struck out five Bulldogs in his time on the mound. 

Reuser's hit in the eighth-inning broke a 4-4 tie and put the Kingsmen up for good. Reuser went 2-for-4 on the day with a walk. 

More notables for the Kingsmen were Zach Bullard going a perfect 3-for-3 with a RBI and a walk and Brendan Durfee went 2-for-4 with a homerun. 

Alexander Rivas was on the mound and went 6.2 innings. He struck out five and gave up eight hits and three earned runs. 

Redlands got one run of Rivas in the second. Durfee answered in the bottom of the inning with his homerun. 

The game had three more lead changes the rest of the way. CLU took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of third as Bullard and Nick Rhoades tallied a RBI.

Redlands took its lead in the top of the seventh and went up 4-3. The Kingsmen tied the game in bottom of the inning and Reuser put the Kingsmen up for good in the eighth.

The Kingsmen will play La Verne for their next series. Cal Lutheran will hit the road for a game on Friday at 3 p.m.
