REDLANDS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran baseball had a hard-fought doubleheader against Redlands on Saturday afternoon. The Kingsmen claimed the first game 7-6, but fell to the Bulldogs 4-1 in game two. 

In the first game, the Purple and Gold came back from being down 5-6, scoring two more runs at the top of the seventh and holding the Bulldogs to zero runs from the 6^th inning on. 

Austin Carrillo had three runs, and four other Kingsmen added one run each. Kyler Reuser and Sean Blandino both had two RBIs. Zach Bullard, Brendan Durfee, and Nick Fusari each contributed an RBI to the team total 

In the top of the seventh, Blandino's single to the shortstop brought in his two RBIs as Carrillo and Bullard ran home. He was strong on the offensive side with three hits on the day, with the seventh-inning hit putting the Kingsmen up for good.

Three pitchers took the mound in the first game, Mason Snodgrass (4.2 innings), Clay Rickerman (3.1 innings) and Zach Hardman (1 inning). Rickerman got the win on the day and Hardman the save as the relief pitching duo allowed no hits. 

In the second game of the day, the Redlands' defense was strong as they held the Kingsmen offense to just one run, which came from Carillo. 

Nathan Chapman and Greg Pimental both saw the mound, Chapman pitched four innings, while Pimentel pitched five, allowing just one hit and no runs. The defense wasn't enough to stop a Redlands as the Bulldogs stole the second 4-1.  

The Kingsmen aim to get revenge against the Bulldogs back at home on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
