REDLANDS, Calif. — The California Lutheran softball team lost game one of a doubleheader to Redlands, 3-1, but bounced back and won game two, 6-5, as the Regals split with the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at the Field of Dreams

Olivia Leyva, Kendall Marinesi and Brittany Workman led the Regals with two RBIs apiece on the day. Leyva and Workman both tallied three hits.

Olivia Serrano got the win on the day. She threw a complete game in the second-half of the doubleheader. She totaled 95 pitches and gave up 12 hits. She struck out two, but also gave up two homeruns and five earned runs. CLU's offense had her back though as she got the 6-5 win and improved to 5-7.

Redlands took an early lead in game two as the Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second, Cal Lutheran answered with three runs. Abbigael Howard put CLU on the board with a single to left center as Serrano scored. Leyva was next and singled to right field and scored two as Howard and Mikaela Mayhew rushed home.

The Bulldogs tied up the game in the bottom of the fourth. The Regals took the lead back in the top of the fifth. Marinesi singled through the left side as Antonia Rapisardi and Jacy Watanabe came home to score. Workman pushed the lead to 6-3 as she doubled to right center.

Redlands scored one run in the sixth and seventh inning, but Serrano was there to shut the door. She got the win as the Regals took game two.

In the first game, Workman pitched the first three innings and Meghan Henry came in for the next three.

Cal Lutheran scored first as Workman singled in Leyva in the top of the first. Redlands took the lead as the Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the third. That was all the scoring as the Bulldogs won the game. Workman only gave up three hits and three earned runs, but took the loss.

CLU continues the season on the road as the Regals travel to Orange, Calif., to take on the Chapman Panthers Friday at 2 and 4 p.m.
