Bulldogs Sweep Regals

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The California Lutheran softball team had a tough offensive day as the Redlands Bulldogs won 4-0 in game won and 12-2 in game two Sunday afternoon at Hutton Field.

The only two runs of the day for the Regals came in the bottom of the fourth in game two. Emily Hammond hit a hard grounder to first base and the Bulldogs couldn't handle it. Kendall Marinesi and Brittany Workman tallied runs as they raced home.

In the first game, Olivia Serrano was on the mound. She pitched five innings and struck out three batters. She only gave up four earned runs, but couldn't get any offense and took the loss. She is now 3-5 on the season. Sienna Perez pitched the final two innings and didn't give up a hit.

Olivia Leyva, Marinesi, Catherine Slabaugh and Workman each tallied a hit in the game. The closest the Regals got to scoring was after a double by Workman, but she got stranded at second.

The Bulldogs got things going in the first as they scored two runs. They added a run in the third and fifth and won 4-0.

Sierra Scali took the mound in the second game for CLU. The Bulldogs jumped all over her and scored eight runs in the first two innings. It was all Redlands needed as they won 12-2 in five innings. Scali took the loss and is now 0-2.

Cal Lutheran (9-13, 2-8 SCIAC) continues the season at home. The Regals host Chapman Thursday for a doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m.
