Kingsmen Roll Past Firebirds

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran cruised to a 7-1 win over St. Katherine, Saturday afternoon in San Marcos, Calif.

The Kingsmen (3-1) earned one point for taking two of the three doubles matches, starting with Isaiah Volk and Jake Haffner in their 6-4 win. The duo of Darvel Lossangoye and Charlie Spina fought to win a 7-6 tiebreak in their match to pick up the point for their team.

In the singles competition, Lossangoye led this off with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win. Haffner followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory to earn another point for CLU. Making quick work of his opponent was Spina in his 6-1, 6-1 win to clinch the fourth point and overall win for Cal Lutheran.

Sebastian Ariza stepped up to win his match 8-4 and Ben Vincze wrapped up the competition with an 8-3 victory.

Cal Lutheran begins Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play tomorrow Feb. 16 at 2 pm. when they travel to Orange, Calif. to face Chapman.
