Kingsmen Football Land Six on All-SCIAC Second Team

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran football garnered six All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honorees, the conference announced Thursday morning.

Jalani Blade, Josue Castro, Jadon Cline, Matt Flynn, Nick Lasher and Isaiah Martin represented the Kingsmen on Second Team.

Blade (San Pedro, Calif.) garnered his first All-SCIAC honor. At the defensive back position, he was third on Cal Lutheran with 61 tackles. The juniort led the team with 39 solo tackles and had 22 assisted. With 1.5 tackles for loss, he also added two interceptions, four pass break-ups and one forced fumble. 

Castro (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned Second Team honors and was a member of the Cal Lutheran offensive line. Playing in all 10 games, he helped the Kingsmen average 347.1 yards per game, 120.5 rushing and 226.6 passing. The senior helped his team score 25.8 points per game, totaling 24 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing. 

Cline (Ventura, Calif.) earned his first All-SCIAC award. At the tight end position, he played in all 10 games for the Kingsmen. The junior caught 27 passes for 280 yards and scored twice. He averaged 10.4 yards per catch and had a long of 33. He caught four-plus receptions in four different games. 

Flynn (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was named Second Team and was second on Cal Lutheran in tackles. Playing in all 10 games at linebacker, he recorded 69 tackles. The senior had 35 solo and 34 assisted. He recorded 4.5 tackles for a loss of 14 yards and added one forced fumble and one interception. He added two pass break-ups. 

Lasher (Norco, Calif.) earned his first All-SCIAC award as the quarterback for the Kingsmen. The senior started all 10 games and threw 21 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He was 184-299 for 2,131 passing yards and a completion percentage of 61.5. He had an efficiency of 141.2 and averaged 213.1 yards per game. He added 180 yards on the ground and had a long of 53. 

Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) garnered Second Team All-SCIAC honors for hist first all-conference accolade. The senior was a force in the backfield for the Kingsmen and played in all 10 games. As the starting running back, he totaled 843 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged 84.3 per game, 4.4 per carry and a long of 75. He added seven receptions for 48 yards and a score.
