Angel, Lasher Earn Academic All-District

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Julio Angel and Nick Lasher represent Cal Lutheran football on the 2022 Academic All-District Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The CSC recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Angel (Santa Rosa, Calif.) led the Kingsmen with 34 receptions and 434 yards. He tied for the team lead with four touchdown receptions. He averaged 12.8 yards per catch and had a long of 70. He had a season high eight receptions and 128 yards against Chapman. He recorded six-plus receptions on three different occasions. Angel is majoring in multimedia.

Lasher (Norco, Calif.) started all 10 games and threw 21 touchdowns to just five interceptions. The senior was 184-299 for 2,131 passing yards and a completion percentage of 61.5. He had an efficiency of 141.2 and averaged 213.1 yards per game. He added 180 yards on the ground and had a long of 53. Lasher is majoring in exercise science

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. No student-athlete is eligible until they have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
