THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.  Cal Lutheran Women's Lacrosse returned to the field on Saturday for a conference matchup against the Tigers of Occidental College. Oxy got the better of Cal Lutheran and took the contest 24-6.

Occidental opened the scoring, but the Regals answered right back just 24 seconds later. Freshman Sydney Shin scored, with the assist by sophomore Meghan Angus. The Tigers found the net three more times before junior Giselle Bonilla snuck a low shot by the Tiger goalkeeper. Three more Occidental goals would end the first quarter with the Regals down 7-2.

The second quarter saw the gap widen as the Tigers scored eight goals. Despite seven first-half saves by Cal Lutheran goalkeeper Bella Bravo, the score going into the break was 15-2.

After two more Tiger goals, the Regals were able to break through with a free position goal from Shin. They followed this with a quick goal from freshman Josie Oparanaku, her ninth of the season. The momentum then stalled and three more Occidental goals ended the period with the score 20-4.

Sydney Shin showed the that Regals were still pushing with her third goal of the game to bring her team-leading total to 12 on the season. Cal Lutheran kept the pressure on and scored again when Bonilla picked up her second goal of the day and 10th of the season. The Tigers scored four more goals to take the win with a final score of 24-6.

Bravo's nine saves on the day brought her conference leading total to 110. Bonilla, Angus, Shin, and Oparanaku are now number one, two, three, and four, respectively, in goals, in program history.

Next up, the Regals will be on the road to face the Poets of Whittier on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
