THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. Sydney Shin scored the third-most goals in program history for a game with four as Cal Lutheran Women's Lacrosse played host to the Panthers of Chapman University on Saturday afternoon.

The Regals scored more goals than they ever have against Chapman, but were unable to keep pace in a 21-7 loss.

Chapman picked up the first four goals of the game before sophomore Meghan Angus made a long run past multiple defenders and beat the Panther goalie to get the Regals on the board. Four more Chapman goals followed to end the first quarter at 1-8.

Two more Panther goals opened the second quarter until freshman Shin scored to change the momentum. The teams then traded goals as Chapman scored followed by a Regal goal from freshman Josie Oparanaku, her sixth of the season. Three more Chapman goals brought the score to 3-14 at the halftime break.

Shin claimed the first goal of the second half on an assist from Angus. A run of five Chapman goals was cut off when Shin drew a free position shot and used the opportunity to net her third goal of the game. This sent the game into the final quarter with the score at 19-5.

The Regals played step for step with the Panthers in the final frame. Shin struck again with her fourth goal of the game, and team leading eighth goal of the season. Chapman responded with two goals, but junior Giselle Bonilla scored her fourth of the season to tie the quarter and close the game with the score 21-7 for the Panthers.

Junior Lauren Neal led the Regals with 3 ground balls and goaltender Bella Bravo had 10 saves, her third double digit game of the season.

The Regals will be on the road in Claremont, Calif., on Thursday at 7:00 pm to square off against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
