Becker, Opara Bring Home Gold at SCIAC Multi-Dual

REDLANDS, Calif. — Senior Olivia Becker and sophomore Zaria Opara each brought home gold as Cal Lutheran Women's Track & Field competed against Chapman and Redlands at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual of the season.

Becker won the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19 minutes and 29.55 seconds. Opara snagged gold in the shot put with 10.41 meters. She also placed second in the hammer throw with 36.80 meters and third in the discus with 33.54m.

Junior Denaya Wickett and junior Isabella Molony came in second in their respective events. Wickett was second in the 400-meter dash with 1:03.00. Molony was second in the high jump clearing 1.42 meters and in the triple jump with 10.50m.

Junior Samantha Carranza added one more podium finish and was third in the 200 meter dash with 27.35. 

Competing in their first collegiate meet was freshmen Sarah Bjornson (100 meter hurdles, high jump), Jolie Caya (100 meter hurdles,  400 meter hurdles, long jump) and Brooke Hougo (1,500 meter run).

The Regals continue the season this Friday with the Moorpark College Invitational.
