ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Cal Lutheran's Olivia Becker, Sarah Bjornson, Zaria Opara and Veronica Redpath each earned All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors for Cal Lutheran women's track and field which the conference announced Thursday.
All-conference honors in each event went to the top finisher at the 2021 SCIAC Championships. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cal Lutheran, Chapman, La Verne and Redlands were the lone participants for the SCIAC during the Spring of 2021.
Becker (Fort Collins, Colo.) earned her first All-SCIAC honor as she won the 10,000-meter run. The senior went wire-to-wire in the race as she won the first event of the SCIAC Championships. She cruised to victory with a time of 40 minutes and 45.52 seconds, defeating her competition by over 30 seconds.
Bjornson (Seattle Wash.) competed at her first SCIAC Championships and earned her first All-SCIAC honor. The freshman led the field in the high jump as she cleared a height of 1.47 meters.
Opara (Carnation, Wash.) had a lot of success in 2020 and was poised for a big year. The sophomore, finally got to compete in the SCIAC Championships, and impressed once again. She garnered her first All-SCIAC honor as she threw a distance of 10.66 meters in the shot put.
Redpath (Seattle, Wash.) earned her first All-SCIAC honor as she claimed the 5,000-meter run. The junior raced to a time of 18:55.87 and was at the top of the podium. She was also an All-West Region selection for Regals cross Country in 2019.
