Ruiz Announces Upcoming 2019 Kingsmen Soccer Slate

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Featuring six non-conference matchups heading into Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, Head Coach Miguel Ruiz unveiled Cal Lutheran Men's Soccer's 2019 schedule, Wednesday morning.

An exhibition with Bakersfield College on August 24 leads the team into its non-conference lineup, officially kicking off the season in Washington against Pacific Lutheran on August 30 and Puget Sound on September 1.

From there, the Kingsmen return home on September 8 for a four-game stretch against Concordia (Tex.), Ottawa (Ariz.), Lake Forest and George Fox before jumping into conference play.

"We're excited to play meaningful games in our non-conference slate to prepare us for tough matchups within the SCIAC," said Ruiz, "We have a strong group returning and we hope that will be challenged. After having a young team last year, we feel the schedule this season will help them be better prepared for the conference slate."

The team opens SCIAC play with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on September 18 and closes at Pomona-Pitzer on October 30. Last year, the team went 5-9 in conference and 5-12 overall with a freshman heavy squad, and return this season with a large and more experienced roster in Ruiz's second season at the helm of the program.
