Kingsmen Baseball Voted No. 1 in D3Baseball.com National Poll

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. –  Cal Lutheran baseball is back on top of the Division III baseball world as the Kingsmen received 17 first-place votes in the recent D3Baseball.com national poll, making them the No. 1 team in the nation.

CLU has enjoyed their best start in program history, posting a 16-1 overall record to begin their 2020 campaign. After taking two out of three games from Chapman, the reigning national champions, the Purple and Gold made the jump from No. 15 to No. 2 in the national rankings.

Another perfect 3-0 weekend before the most recent rankings were released gave the Kingsmen an undeniably fantastic resumé which landed themselves at the top spot.

Cal Lutheran is currently ranked second in the nation in both hits (204) and runs (149) while recording a national-best 17 sacrifice flies.

Senior Christian Slattery leads the nation in saves with seven on the year and sits at the number-two spot in appearances with 10. Clay Rickerman is leading the nation in appearances (11) and is second in wins (4) during his stellar junior season. Ryne Yamashiro occupies the fourth spot in the nation with 22 RBI.

The Kingsmen look to keep things going on Mar. 12 at 3 p.m. for a nonconference game against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Occidental in Los Angeles, Calif.
