THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Alexander Rivas impressed in his first two starts of the 2020 season as he was named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week as a starting pitcher.
Rivas (Reseda, Calif.) was excellent in his two outings, earning two wins without allowing a run in his 12 innings of work. The sophomore led Cal Lutheran to victory in their home opener, tossing six innings of scoreless baseball en route to a 2-0 win over UT Dallas. Rivas racked up six strikeouts in the contest.
CLU began Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play last weekend and Rivas was, once again, chosen as the number-one. Rivas prolonged his scoreless-inning streak to 12 after tossing six scoreless frames with eight strikeouts and scattering two hits. The sophomore improved to 2-0 after another masterful outing.
The Kingsmen (7-0, 3-0 SCIAC) resume SCIAC competition and hope to stay undefeated on Feb. 21 at 2:30 p.m. when they head to Bill Arce Field to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
