LOS ANGELES – This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 22 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Mardell Ramirez was selected as the Women's Swimming and Diving AOW.
On Saturday, Ramirez helped the Regals defeat Redlands for the first time in program history. The Regals knocked off Redands 123-117. CLU also defeated La Verne 154-82.
A native of Santa Monica, Calif., Ramirez led the Violet and Gold with three individual victories. She won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.45), 100-yard backstroke (1:01.75) and the 500-yard free (5:12.59).
The junior won every event she competed in on Saturday. Ramirez has been named the AOW three times this year and in back-to-back weeks.
The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
