Regals Golf Seventh, McCardell 14th

SAN DIEGO — California Lutheran's Marissa McCardell finished at 13-over-par and in 14th-place, as the Regals tied for seventh, at the Point Loma Invitational which was held Monday and Tuesday at the Riverwalk Golf Course.

The tournament featured fifteen teams and 80 individuals. It consisted of two rounds and had a Par of 72. Also competing in the tournament was Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent, Redlands.

McCardell shot a 78 and a 79 as she led the Regals to their seventh-place finish. She had a two-day total of 157 strokes. She recorded 22 pars, which was the seventh-most at the tournament.

Cal Lutheran's Lauren Fesler finished at 27-over par (85-85-171) and in 43rd-place. Teammate Ally Gaskill was right behind her and tied for 44th at 28-over per (83-89-172).

Erica Mitchell rounded out the team score for the Violet and Gold and ended her tournament at 34-over par (92-86-178) and in a tie for 56th. Hannah Pasco also competed for the Regals and finished in 61st with a score of 38-over-par (85-97-182).

As a team, the Regals tied for seventh at 95-over-par (331-340-671). CLU finished ahead conference foe, Redlands, as the Bulldogs placed 11th. Winning the team title was CSU San Marcos at 24-over-par (298-302-600).

San Marcos' Jaime Jacob (73-73-146) and Dixie State's Katie Ford (71-75-146) tied for the lead at 2-over-par.

Up Next, the Regals compete in SCIAC action as they travel to San Bernardino, Calif., to play at the Arrowhead Country Club Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25.
