Meyer Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for Third Time

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 30 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Bailey Meyer garnered the Women's Water Polo Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Meyer was named the Defensive Athlete of the Weeek for the third time this season. She is the only player to win an award more than once, offensively or defensively.

Meyer (Santa Ana, Calif.) helped the Regals to a 2-0 week as they defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (7-6) and Occidental (15-1). She finished with 10 saves against the Athenas, and 15 stops, a steal and a pair of assists versus the Tigers.

Meyer and the defense have combined to hold 13 opponents under 5 points. She currently has 851 saves, which is the second most in program history, and trails Gina Merry who has 893.

The Regals have three games left in the regular season and then the SCIAC Tournament. Cal Lutheran is away for the next game and is at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
