Rouse Rises to No. 17 on Day One of NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE, Wisc. — In her debut appearance at the NCAA Division III Championships, Kelsey Rouse currently sits at seventeenth in the heptathlon after her first four events. She took home third in the high jump on day one and accrued a total of 2464 points.

Rouse jumped 1.57 meters in the high jump, good for a third place finish and 701 points. The mark was just .03 meters shy of her lifetime personal best and .09 meters behind first place.

She also finished fifteenth in the 200m dash at 27.59 seconds (664 points), eighteenth in the 100m hurdles at 16.34 seconds (673 points) and twentieth in the shotput with an 8.41 meter throw (426 points). 

Overall, Rouse tallied a total of 2464 points on day one. With the long jump, javelin and 800m run still remaining, she sits just 171 points out of the top ten. 

No stranger to tight competition, Rouse overcame a 184-point deficit on day two of the Redlands Final Qualifying Meet to take home first place. She set lifetime personal records in six of her seven events to record 4475 points, the second highest total in program history.
