THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Logan Duford, Isabella Veljacic and Avery West represent Cal Lutheran women's soccer on the 2022 Academic All-District Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The CSC recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Duford (Denver, Colo.) has been a force in front of the goal. She started all 16 games she played in and logged 1,423 minutes. She shut out nine opponents and had a record of 8-4-3. She allowed just 11 goals and recorded a goals-against-average of 0.70. She made 58 saves for a save percentage of .841. Duford has a 3.7 grade point average and is majoring in business administration.
Veljacic (Monterey Park, Calif.) led the Regal attack and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIACX) with eight goals. She added two assists and tied for the conference lead in points with 18. She took 21 shots-on-goal and had a shooting percentage of .512. Three of her goals were game-winning goals. Veljacic has a 3.65 grade point average and is majoring in communications.
West (Santa Rosa, Calif.) helped hold the backline for the Regal defense. She played in 18 games, starting 16 of them. She was a part of nine shutouts, and on top of that, helped out the offense with a goal and two assists. West and the defense combined to allow just 14 goals all season as the team had a goals-against-average of 0.74. West has a 3.7 grade point average and is majoring in psychology.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. No student-athlete is eligible until they have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
