THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran women's soccer continued their homestand to start the year and faced off with Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday. Anna Evenson scored her first collegiate goal, but the Regals fell to the Gusties 2-1.

The Regals are at home for the first five games of the season, before traveling to Texas. The teams continue to come from out of state as the Gusties flew in from Minnesota.

Evenson scored in the 50th minute to break the seal. At the top of box, Evenson corralled the ball and unloaded it into the top right corner.

One minute later, the Gusties answered, and stole momentum back. Both teams had their chances over the next 20 minutes, but neither could convert.

The match continued with intensity and high-pressured moments. The Gusties stunned the Regals moments later, taking the lead with 11 minutes left in the game.

Gustavus Adolphus controlled the ball for most of the match and did so over the final minutes as they earned the win.

Up next for the Regals is Concordia (Tex.). Cal Lutheran will play on Labor Day, Monday, at 10 a.m.
