THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's tennis went down to the wire with Grinnell and the Kingsmen took the final singles spot to win the dual 5-4 on Monday afternoon.
The Kingsmen started the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. Darvel Lossangoye and Shawn Rothermel won 8-5 at the No. 2 and Friedrich Ludwig and Cade Haffner won 8-5 at the No. 3. Grinnell scored its first point as Parker McBride and Aaron Moylan were defeated 8-2 at the No. 1.
In singles, the Kingsmen won three spot, including the clinch. McBride won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 at the No. 2 and Haffner won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5. The dual came down to the No. 1 spot and Lossangoye clinched for his squad, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Grinnell won the other three singles matches as Moylan fell 1-6, 3-6 at the No. 3, Jacob de la Paz fell 2-6, 2-6 at the No. 4 and Ludwig was defeated 4-6, 6-7 (3-7) at the No. 6.
The Kingsmen continue the season on the road. Cal Lutheran is a Hawaii, Hilo on Friday at 1 p.m. PST.
