Regals Honor Senior Hein During Intersquad Match

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.  Cal Lutheran women's volleyball played an intersquad game on Saturday night. Before the game, the Regals honored a graduating senior, Sarah Hein.



The Regals were then split into two with a Purple and Black team, with middle blockers playing on both teams. Team Purple defeated Team Black 3-2 (12-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-8).

The Black Team consisted on Hein, Maci Haddad, Rayne Selhorst, Mackenzie Martinez, Christina Williams, Kira Mortensen, Isabella Wade and Jenna Jones.

The Purple Team was made up of Haddad, Julia Trento, Lauren Heller, Williams, Tess Holbert, Sadie Peete, Mortensen, Jalyn Chun and Emily Wasson.

In her final collegiate game, Hein tallied 11 digs, five kills, three service aces and two assists.

It was two-time All-America Haddad that stole the show. Playing for both teams, she accounted for 22 kills while hitting .500 or better for both teams. She added 11 blocks as she controlled the net.

Four more Regals had double-digits kills as Wasson swatted down 16, Heller and Martinez both had 11 and Peete added 10 more.

Moving the ball around was Chun, Jones and Holbert. Chun had a match-high 30 assists, Jones was next with 28 and Holbert had 18 more.

Defensively, Peete recorded 21 digs as she notched a double-double for kills and digs. Trento added 18 digs and Wade tallied 15 more.

The Regals Volleyball team looks forward to its 2021 season in the fall.
