LOS ANGELES – This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week Twenty Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Kiana Gray was selected as the Women's Basketball AOW.
On Wednesday, Gray scored 18 points in a 54-51 comeback win against Occidental. Gray was one-point shy of her career-high. She added eight rebounds and two steals during the game. The Regals were down 27-18 at halftime, before storming back to steal the win. CLU tallied 21 points in the fourth, Gray scored seven of them.
A native of Agoura, Calif., Gray followed it up with scoring 11 points versus the No. 2 team in the SCIAC. She was 2-for-3 from behind the three-point line and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. She also recorded three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
For the week, the senior guard averaged 14.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game, while leading the Regals to a 1-1 record on the week. CLU is currently No. 3 in the SCIAC standings.
The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
