Dees Helps Kingsmen to Five Top Ten Finishes

REDLANDS, Calif. — In their last chance to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen produced five top ten finishes in day two of the Redlands Final Qualifying Meet.

Obasi Dees led the charge with three of those top finishes. He joined with Chris Brodnax, Trent Mosley and Wendell O'Brien to run the 4x100m relay in 41.90 seconds for a second place finish in the meet. The group of four's time narrowly beats out the current tenth-place holder in the school's record list by just .01 of a second. Codie Conway, Deme'Trek Chambers, Dennis Clay and Caius Radu previously set the tenth-best time of 41.91 in 2012.

Dees also placed third in the 200m dash at 21.83 seconds and seventh in the 100m dash at 10.75 seconds. His 100m-time is now the fifth best in program history, breaking his previous lifetime personal record of 10.83 seconds set previously this year.

In the 800m run, Timmy Kahovec took home fourth with a 1:56.21 minute time and Connor Neufeld-Griffin followed closely behind at 1:58.16.

Their efforts came just short however as the Kingsmen could not edge their way into the top 20 scores needed to qualify for the NCAA championships.
