REDLANDS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team traveled to Farquhar Field to face the No.7 Redlands Bulldogs for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match on Wednesday night. The Kingsmen fell by the score of 2-1.
CLU got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Joey Arnold in the fifth minute. This was the Poway, Calif., native's first goal of the season.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the 16th minute with a goal from Chase ChubbFertal who was assistaed by Chase Boone. Redlands quickly doubled their lead just a few minutes later when Alexander Know scored an unassisted goal in the box.
That goal by Knox would prove to be the last one of the match after a scoreless second half. ChubbFertal and Boone each tallied 5 shots for the Bulldogs to lead their attacking play. Knox and Kayvon Parsa each contributed one shot on target.
Cal Lutheran's attack was led by Stevie Ray Trujillo who fired three shots. Danny Pacheco and Alon Arnaldes each contributed two shots while Arnold, Diego Ortega, and Charlie Villa-Lovos each added a shot. Eduardo Garcia made four saves between the posts for the Violet and Gold but fell to 3-2 on the season.
Cal Lutheran (3-2, 2-1 SCIAC) will play their next game under the lights at William Rolland Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m. to play Caltech.
