Kingsmen Push Win Streak to Seven with Victory Over Neb. Wesleyan

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran baseball won its seventh game in a row as the Kingsmen defeated Neb. Wesleyan 5-3 on Thursday afternoon. 

The Kingsmen improved to 8-2 on the season as they broke up their week with a non-conference matchup. They jump back into conference play this weekend. 

Cal Lutheran used seven pitchers as many Kingsmen saw action. Cameron Cooper started the game and went 2.0 innings with two strikeouts and two walks. Milan Bugarin got the win as he went the next three innings with two hits and a strikeout. 

Bryan Tierney, Noah Matsumoto, Clay Rickerman, Tristan Dupont, and Gregory Pimentel pitched the final five innings. Pimentel pitched the ninth, got the save, and struck out two. 

Joseph Scalzo, Brendan Durfee, Max Heverly, and Gordon Richardson provided the fire power. Scalzo recorded two RBI with the others have one each. Sean Blandino and Zach Lafata recorded two stolen bases each as they Kingsmen were active on the base path. 

Cal Lutheran scored one run in the fourth and fifth inning. The Kingsmen added three more in the seventh as the pitching staff was crusing. 

Neb. Wesleyan got some fireworks in the eighth and ninth inning, but it was too late as the Kingsmen won the game.  

This weekend has had some schedule changes. Due to rain in the forecast, Cal Lutheran will play one game on Saturday at Redlands at 2 p.m. The doubleheader between the teams is now Sunday at Cal Lutheran.
