Regals Fourth Heading to SCIAC Championships; Mitchell T-10th at SCIAC #2

VENTURA, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran women's golf team finished fourth with Erica Mitchell leading the way as she tied for 10th at the SCIAC #2 which was hosted by the Regals at the Olivas Links Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

The SCIAC #2 is the second leg of the SCIAC Championships and consisted of two rounds. The golfers shot 18 holes on both days. The first leg was on Feb. 16-17. CLU was fourth after the first 36 holes.

The Regals maintained their fourth-place spot after 4 rounds of golf and widened the gap between them and Chapman. CLU shot 319 strokes on Saturday and 307 on Sunday. They have a total of 1,278 strokes through 72 holes. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is first (1,223), Redlands is second (1,230), Pomona-Pitzer is third (1,260) and Chapman is fifth (1,283).

Mitchell led the way for the Violet and Gold as she tied for 10th at 8-over-par. She shot a 6-over-par 78 in the first round and a fired a 74 in the second for 152 strokes.

Brooke Logsdon made it two Regals in the top 15 as she tied for 14th at 11-over-par. She shot tallied a 79 on Saturday and a 76 on Tuesday for a total of 155 strokes.

Ally Gaskill and Lauren Fesler rounded out the team score. Gaskill placed 19th at 13-over-par (78-79-157) and Fesler tied for 26th at 18-over-par (84-78-162).

Chloe Barnes, Grace Cornejo and Bailey Runchey also competed for the Regals. Barnes tied for 32nd at 20-over-par (81-83-164), Cornejo tied for 34th at 21-over-par (86-79-165) and Runchey was 46th at 42-over-par (98-88-186).

The final three rounds are at the SCIAC Championships which will be held at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Calif., on April 18-20.
