RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Ally Gaskill tied for 18th and Erica Mitchell tied for 20th to lead Regals golf to a sixth-place finish at the Bulldog Classic which was held at The South at Rancho Mirage Golf Club.
The tournament featured 12 teams and 65 individuals. The golfers shot 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday with the Par being 72. The event was hosted by Redlands.
The Regals placed sixth and were 58-over-par. The team shot 318 strokes on day one and 316 on day two. CLI finished 33-strokes back of the leader as they totaled 634 in all.
Gaskill finished the two-day tourney with the top score for the Regals and tied for 18th. She turned in her card at 11-over-par. She shot a 3-over-par 75 on Monday and an 80 on Tuesday for a total of 155 strokes.
Mitchell was just one-stroke back of Gaskill as she tied for 20th at 12-over-par. She recorded a 77 on the first 18 and a 79 on the second.
Lauren Fesler and Brooke Logsdon rounded out the team score as the duo tied for 33rd at 18-over-par with 162 strokes. Fesler tallied an 84 and then a 78 while Logsdon turned in an 82 and 80.
Grace Cornejo was the fifth Regal competing and placed 36th. She finished with 86 strokes on day one and 79 on the second. She moved up seven spots and was 21-over-par with 165 strokes.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the event at 25-over-par (305-296-601) and Redlands (300-311-611) and Methodist (299-312-611) tied for second with 35-over-par. Methodist's Jillian Drinkard won the individual title with 1-over-par (72-73-145), Whittier's Taylor Beckwith was second at 3-over-par (74-73-147) and CMS' Emma Kang was third at 5-over-par (77-72-149).
Up next for the Regals is the SCIAC #2. The second leg of the SCIAC Championships is hosted by Cal Lutheran on April 6-7 at the Olivas Links Golf Club in Ventura, Calif.
