Kingsmen Land Five on All-SCIAC Squad

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — After notching five impressive podium performances at last weekend's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, juniors Chris Brodnax and Obasi Dees and freshmen Evan Cox, Hasant Moses-Hillman and Emilio Guajardo earned the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen five all-conference honors, announced Tuesday.

Taking home the 400-meter title, Brodnax ran a lifetime-best 48.31-second dash, not only the seventh best time in Cal Lutheran history, but also the 19th best time amongst all NCAA Division III racers in the nation this season. This is the second all-conference honor in the 400-meter for the junior after taking third in the event last season.

Adding two more All-SCIAC honors to his list, Dees took second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash. He clocked in at 21.63 seconds in the 200-meter – a lifetime PR, the third best time in program history and the 26th best time in the nation – and at 10.78 seconds in the 100-meter.

Brodnax and Dees then joined freshmen Cox and Moses-Hillman to claim third in the 4x100 relay, clocking in at 42.85 seconds. This is the second All-SCIAC honor in the event for Dees and Brodnax, who took second in the event at last year's conference championships.

And rounding out the group, Guajardo tied for second in the high jump with a career-best 1.82 meters.
