Regals Send Six to SCIAC Multi-Duals

LA MIRADA, Calif. – Today, the Cal Lutheran women's cross country team suited up for the only Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Multi-Dual meet of the season at La Mirada Park where the Regals finished eighth.

Leading the way for CLU was Rachel Ereso whose time of 23:24.00 was a minute and a half faster than her time on the same course last season. She was the top Cal Lutheran finisher, crossing the line in 23rd place.

The second Regals runner to complete the course was freshman Olivia Becker. In her first SCIAC Multi-Duals, the Fort Collins, Colo. native posted a time of 24:55.66.

Kylie Rodriguez showed the most improvement on this particular course for the Regals, shaving off more than two and a half minutes from her time in 2016, running a 25:15.93 today as the third CLU harrier to finish. Katie Young was two spots back in 25:21.78.

Also running in league competition for the first time today were Mariah Mercado (26:15.73) and Stephanie Allen (26:50.08).

Individually, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps senior Bryn McKillop was the champion, clocking a 21:27.66 as one of six runners to break the 22-minute mark. She guided CMS to an 8-0 showing as well.

Occidental (7-1) was second followed by Redlands (6-2), Pomona-Pitzer (5-3), Caltech (4-4), Whittier (3-5), Chapman (2-6), Cal Lutheran (1-7) and La Verne (0-8).

Cal Lutheran will not compete for two weeks before traveling to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14. The women will run at 8:30 a.m. after the men navigate through the course at 7:45 a.m.
