Kingsmen Conclude 2013 Season

LA CROSSE, Wis. - On day one of the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Men's Track & Field Championships, the Cal Lutheran 4x100m Relay team competed among the nation's best to conclude their spring campaign.

Before a large crowd at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of Wisconsin-La Crosse this afternoon, the team of Conor Finfrock, Matthew Hamlett, Tristan Baer and Justin Reeves entered the meet as the 12th ranked team.

An opportunity to improve in the standings went by the wayside when a miscue during a handoff saw the baton to hit the track, ultimately preventing the Kingsmen from finishing the race.

Coming into the meet, CLU held a clocking of 41.63, which ranks them sixth all-time at CLU.

Cal Lutheran was one of four Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams to run today.

Earning the top-seed for Saturday was league rival Whittier. The Poets quartet held the top time in the nation during points of the season and improved from their second-seed into the first slot after running a 40.71. Redlands came into the meet as the 10th-seed and moved up five places to run the finals on Saturday after combining for a time of 41.01.

Occidental also did not finish the race.

Today was the final competition for Baer, Hamlett and Reeves.
