Four Regals Earn First Team, Two on Second Team as All-SCIAC Honors Announced

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Sonia Chan, Trinity Martinez, Isabella Veljacic and Katie Weaver were selected All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team, while Mackenzie Boulware and Gabby Flores both garnered Second Team as the Regals represented California Lutheran University women's soccer on All-SCIAC teams.

The 2021 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Soccer teams were announced Wednesday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.  

The Purple and Gold tied for the most honorees with six, and stood out as they put the most (four) on First Team. 

Chan (Foster City, Calif.) earned All-SCIAC for the first time as she landed on the First Team. The senior midfielder tied for third on the team with four goals and added two assists. She totaled 18 shots, with 11 on goal, for a shot-on-goal percentage of .611. She led the team with three game-winning goals.  

Martinez (Northridge, Calif.) earned her third All-SCIAC honor and was named to the Frist Team for the second time. The senior made the First Team and was Newcomer of the Year in 2017 and was on the Second Team in 2019. Primarily a defender, Martinez has added two goals. Both of which were game-winning goals. With Martinez in the game, the Regals have shutout nine opponents. 

Veljacic (Monterey Park, Calif.) garnered First Team All-SCIAC for the first time. The junior led the Purple and Gold with nine goals, a hat trick against Redlands, and added two assists. She had the second-most goals in the conference. As a forward, Veljacic took 31 shots, landing 18 on goal, for a percentage of .581. She scored two game-winning goals and was successful on her lone penalty kick. 

Weaver (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) earned First Team All-SCIAC for the first time in her career. The senior has been a staple for the Regals defense and started all 18 games she has played in. With Weaver on the backline, the Regals' defense has nine shutouts on the season and has only allowed four goals at home. 

Boulware (Ontario, Calif.) earned All-SCIAC for the first time and garnered second team consideration. The forward was second on the team with five goals and added three assists. She took 24 shots, with 18 being on goal, for an impressive percentage of .750. She added one game-winning goal to her stats. 

Flores (Santa Maria, Calif.) earned All-SCIAC for the second time in her career. She was named to the Second Team this season and was First Team in 2017. At goalkeeper, she totaled the second-most minutes in the conference with just over 1,400. She has the fourth-best goals-against-average with 0.77 and made 58 saves. She has a record of 7-2-4 and has combined with the defense for eight shutouts.  

The Regals clinched a berth in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. Cal Lutheran host Chapman on Thursday at 7 p.m.
