Four Regal Seniors Recognized In Hutton Field

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Regals softball hosted Whittier for the first game of the series and for their Senior Day. It was a hard-fought battle but a six-run fourth inning put the Poets above 12-5.

Senior Taryn Faull started in the circle for the Regals and pitched for five innings. Sammy Edmonds, another senior for the Purple and Gold, stepped in and pitched for the last two innings.

The scoring for the Regals started in the bottom of the second inning with a double down the left field line from Hanna Booth that sent Emily Blank across home.

Ashley Membrere scored in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI from Ari Mendoza. This made the score 8-2 heading into the top of the sixth.

The Purple and Gold tried to make a comeback run in the bottom of the seventh and scored three runs but it wasn't enough to put them on top. The scoring started with a double from senior Mia Onesto that sent Natalie Luna home.

Onesto then scored on an RBI from Makayla Lopez. The final run of the game was Lopez crossing home plate off a double to center field from Mendoza.

The other senior that was recognized for the Regals was Courtney Haapanen.

The Purple and Gold travel to Whittier tomorrow for a double header.
