Late Runs Push Leopards Past Regals

LA VERNE, Calif. – After a close call in game one of the series yesterday, the Regals were coming for vengeance in a double header at La Verne. It wasn't until the bottom of the sixth in game one that the Leopards scored their one run to give them the 1-0 win. Game two was close until the bottom of the fifth when La Verne pulled away from the Regals to take the 8-2 win.

Madison Gunn was in the circle in game one for all six innings and only allowed four hits. The three Regals tallying a hit in game one were Mia Onesto, Ashley Membrere, and Makayla Lopez.

Gunn pitched 5.1 innings in game two and was relieved by Taryn Faull for .2 innings.

Membrere led the Purple and Gold with two hits while Onesto tacked on another one herself. Genevieve Avalos was the third and final hit of the game.

The Regals two runs in game two came in the top of the fifth. Membrere stepped up to the plate and sent a line drive to left field, recording a double and scoring Avalos. Membrere crossed home plate at the next at bat off an error from the right fielder.

The Purple and Gold held a short 2-1 lead before the Leopards quickly retaliated.

The Regals are back in the diamond for Senior Day on Saturday against Whittier. First pitch is at 12 pm.
