BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Dillon Goldsmith and Cal Lutheran men's water polo continue to make history as Goldsmith was named the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Player of the Year, a first in program history. 

The ACWPC announced the 2022 Division III All-America Team, and on top of Player of the Year, Goldsmith was named First Team. He was joined on First Team by Ben Brown, which made his third First Team appearance, also a program first. Luke Matthies made it three Kingsmen on the All-America Team and earned Honorable Mention honors. 

Goldsmith (San Marino, Calif.) broke the program record with 100 goals. He had a shooting percentage of .599 and was lethal on the offensive end. He earned his third All-America honor as he added 51 drawn ejections, 50 steals, 28 assists and 14 field blocks. This is Goldsmith's first, First Team honor. He was Honorable Mention in 2018 and '19. 

Brown (Chula Vista, Calif.) earned his third First Team All-America award and fourth overall. He was also First Team in 2018 and '21 and Second Team in '19. He is the only Kingsmen with not two, but three First Team honors. This year, he totaled 86 goals and 69 assists for an impressive 155 points. He added 48 steals and 13 drawn exclusions. 

Matthies (Aptos, Calif.) earned his first career All-America honor and was Honorable Mention. The junior was third on the team in goals and steals with 52 and 42, respectively. He added 20 drawn exclusions and dished out 15 assists. 

The Kingsmen saw plenty of new program accomplishments this year. Cal Lutheran men's water polo won its first-ever SCIAC Tournament Championship. They hosted the Division III national tournament and were the runner-up, both of which were also a program first.
