Kingsmen go 1-1 on Day One of Cal-Lu-fornia Classic

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University men's volleyball went 1-1 on day of the Cal-Lu-fornia Classic on Friday as the Kingsmen defeated St. John Fisher 3-1, but fell to Wentworth 3-0. 

The Kingsmen are 11-7 on the year and had won three straight as they took down St. John Fisher 25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21. 

Taylor Marks recorded his first career double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs. Weber matched his career-high with 19 kills, which he set last night. Borys Horiuk controlled the net with five blocks and Jake Tucker and Dylan Schreibfeder had three each. 

Against Wentworth, the Kingsmen faced a tough task in the No. 11 team in the nation. The Leopards had the Kingsmen's number and took the game in three straight sets, 23-25, 13-25, 16-25. 

Wentworth controlled the game while hitting with an impressive .427 percentage. They held the Kingsment to just .063.

Weber led the team with eight kills, and Marks dished out 13 assists. Eli Moored led the defense with five digs and Schreibfeder had three blocks. 

The Cal-Lu-fornia Classic continues tomorrow with games at 9 a.m. and noon. Cal Lutheran plays Baldwin Wallace at 9 a.m.
