Kingsmen Pick Up Second Consecutive Meet Victory

PASADENA, Calif. – The California Lutheran University men's swimming and diving team picked up another convincing win over Caltech, using a multitude of great swims to notch the 150-129 victory over the Beavers.

RESULTS

The Kingsmen have now won back-to-back meets and have a total of three meet victories on the season.

The quartet of Miles Gaitan, Luke Rodarte, Andreas Nybo and Liam McCallum racked up 11 points for the Kingsmen by taking first place in the 400-yard medley relay with a team time of 3:34.40.

Cal Lutheran then began to lengthen their lead when they swept the podium in the 1000-yard freestyle as Ben Brewer finished first, Stephen Blaauw earned second and Cole Weiderman slipped into third. The same trio finished in identical positions in the 500-yard freestyle, continuing to extend the CLU lead.

Rodarte continued his fantastic day in the pool by winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.44 and later took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Nick Kenny and McCallum finished first and second respectively earn a combined 13 points for the team.

Nybo kept his outstanding season going with a time of 52.43 to notch a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.

Brewer returned to the water for the 400-yard IM and managed his third first-place finish of the day with a time of 4:12.80.

The Kingsmen grabbed another relay victory as Andrew Meneses, Oliver Grant-Chapman, Kenny and McCallum earned the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle relay. 

Cal Lutheran will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Redlands to face the Bulldogs Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m.
