Kingsmen Finish Third at Chris Knorr Invitational

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The California Lutheran University men's swimming and diving put in a decent performance at the Chris Knorr Invitational, earning 577.5 points to finish third in the competition.

RESULTS

UC Santa Cruz grabbed 761.5 points to finish in first place. Biola University would slip into second place with 634.5 points while the Kingsmen came in third with 577.5 points. Pacific Lutheran finished fourth with 245.5 points and George Fox came in fifth with 134 points.

Ben Brewer and Stephen Blaauw kicked things off on day one of the meet by taking second and third place respectively in the 1,650-yard freestyle. 

Earning the first event victory for CLU was the quartet of Miles Gaitan, Andreas Nybo, Zane Booth and Nick Kenny in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.21.

Brewer continued his impressive day in the pool with another second-place finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle with his time of 1:46.20.

Gaitan earned himself a second-place time of 55.30 in the 100-yard backstroke and also grabbed second place in the 200-yard backstroke.

Nybo then took first place in the 200-yard butterfly, his second first-place finish of the day.

Liam McCallum and Kenny finished third and fourth place respectively in the 50-yard freestyle and Nathan March got in on the action with a second-place time of 2:15.62 in the 200-yard breaststroke, just 0.06 off the top time.

Brewer earned a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle to impress once again. Nybo grabbed his third event win in the 100-yard butterfly and later notched his fourth in the 200-yard IM.

Cal Lutheran looks forward to Senior Day, where the seniors will be honored for their hard work and dedication to the swimming and diving program, when they host Whittier Jan. 11 at the Samuelson Aquatic Center.
