Kingsmen Dominate 198-46 in First SCIAC Dual of the Season

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen opened their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual with a dominant win over the Chapman Panthers 198-46. The men took home first in all 14 events, led by four first-place finishes from junior Liam McCallum, sophomore Andreas Nybo and freshman Miles Gaitan

The three combined with sophomore Brandon Alvarez to open the morning with first in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:38.46. Gaitain swam the opening backstroke leg in 25.41 seconds, while Alvarez and Nybo raced the breaststroke and butterfly in 27.59 and 23.81 respectively. McCallum then anchored the race with a 21.64 in the freestyle leg. 

McCallum went on to also take first in the 50-free at 22.26, 100-free at 49.27 and 200-free at 1:49.56. Nybo took home the 100-butterfly at 53.08, 200-butterfly at 1:57.63 and 200-individual medly at 2:01.97. 

Gaitan took home first in both the 100-back at 54.37 and 200-back at 1:58.04. He then joined freshman Andrew Meneses and juniors Ben Brewer and Thomas Hamburger to earn the top mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay. 

Brewer additionally placed first in the 500-free at 4:54.94 and in 1000-free at 10:15.08. Rounding out the group, freshman Nathan March took first in the 100-breaststroke at 1:00.26 and in 200-breaststroke at 2:15.00. 

Cal Lutheran now turns its attention to the Banana Slug Invitational on November 30-December 1 in Santa Cruz, California.
