CLAREMONT, Calif. — Junior Ben Brewer and sophomores Nick Kenny and Andreas Nybo combined to collect seven first-place finishes in Saturday's conference matchup against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. However, while the trio led the pack to a total of 17 podium finishes, the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen came up just short of the win 166-121.

Brewer kicked off the meet with a first-place victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 9:46.31. The San Francisco-native went on to additionally collect gold in the 500-free (4:44.16) and in the 200-individual medley (2:01.14).

Nybo collected three top finishes of his own, claiming first in the 100-butterfly (52.66), the 200-butterfly (1:54.87) and the 100-free (48.94). Kenny rounds out the group with his first-place finish in the 50-free, touching the wall at 22.57. He also adds a silver in the 100-free (49.09) and bronze in the 200-freestyle relay (1:34.55) alongside junior Liam McCallum, freshman Andrew Meneses and junior Chase Ahrens.

Also adding to the points total, freshman Miles Gaitan picked up three third-place finishes on the day. He recorded a 55.16 in the 100-back, 2:03.61 in the 200 back and 2:04.35 in the 200-individual medley.

Rounding out the top-three finishers, Meneses finished second in the 50-free (22.94), sophomore Stephen Blaauw second in the 1000-free (9:51.24), freshman Nathan March second in the 200-breaststroke (2:16.58), junior Thomas Hamburger third in the 200-butterfly (2:02.49) and freshman Winston Hewes third in the 100-butterfly (1:02.48).

The Kingsmen continue Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action next weekend, January 19, at home versus the Occidental Tigers. Events begin at 10:30 a.m. PST inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
