2014 (Softball) Season Stats - Enhanced Stats
Capped strong career with solid senior season...led the team with 36 hits and 25 runs scored...batted .308...led the team with six steals...started all 38 games...had a 15-game hit-streak from March 24-April 18...went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and RBI and two stolen bases against Occidental (Mar. 8)...had three RBIs and a double against Willamette (Mar. 24)...was 2-for-6 with three runs scored against La Verne (Mar. 30)...finished eighth all time with 472 career at bats and ninth in school history with 33 steals...inducted into CLU Scholar Athlete Society for the fourth time...selected to the SCIAC All-Academic Team.

Started in all 35 games she played for the Regals…collected third most hits (34) on the team including one double in 111 plate appearances for a .306 average…had two five-game hit-streaks…reached base in final 10 games of the season…tied for third on the team in runs scored with 17 while also knocking in four RBIs…walked nine times…recorded four sacrifice hits and one sacrifice fly… was 3-for-5 in stolen bases…had eight multi-hit games… recorded a season best  3-for-4 performance with three runs scored against Pomona-Pitzer (April 13)…also stepped into the circle five times, tossing 9.0 innings and striking out three for a 3.11 ERA…shined defensively as the primary centerfielder finishing with 68 putouts and four assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage...inducted into the CLU Scholar-Athlete Society for the third time.

2012 (Softball)
Emerged as one of the top hitters in the SCIAC...Named Second Team All-SCIAC...was the second hardest batter to strike out in Division III, fanning just once in 143 plate appearances...collected a team-leading 49 hits including one double and three triples...led the team with 23 runs scored while also knocking in 17 RBIs, good for third on the team...led the team with 14 multi-hit games...had a ten game hitting streak while also reaching base in 15 straight games...was the team's leading base-stealer, finishing with 14 steals...went 4-4 with two RBIs and a triple against Webster (March 13)...collected three RBIs against Chapman (Feb. 26)...was also stellar defensively in the outfield as she finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage while recording 73 putouts...also contributed out of the bullpen, making eight appearances...finished 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA while striking out five batters.

2011 (Softball)
Named a starter in all but one of her 38 games played...led the team with four triples, the second-highest total of any player in the SCIAC...scored 23 runs and stole 10 bases, the second-highest totals earned by a Regal in 2011...ended the season tied for third with 42 total bases...finished fourth on the team with her .294 batting average, .353 on-base percentage, and 32 hits...her .385 slugging percentage was the fifth-highest on the squad...recorded eight multiple-hit games...was one of four Regals who held a six-game hit streak at one point of the season (Apr. 10-23)...scored a team-high three runs in one game vs. George Fox (Feb. 13)...struckout a team-low seven times...stole a season-high two bases against Swarthmore (Mar. 9)...recorded a season-high three hits against Pacific Lutheran (Apr. 5)...scored a season-high three runs against George Fox...hit a double against Occidental (Feb. 12) and at Pomona-Pitzer (Apr. 23)...first year member of the CLU Scholar-Athlete Society.

Saint Francis High School
Graduated in 2010...earned three varsity soccer and four softball letters for the Saints...was a member of the 2006 ILH Championship team...earned Honorable Mention recognition in 2010.

Full name: Kayla Kimie Sakamoto...born on February 18, 1992 in Kaneohe, Hawaii...parents are Jennifer Scott and Ivan Sakamoto...has one sister, Alisha, who played high school softball...chose CLU for the strong Exercise Science program, especially the lab equipment and the welcoming campus...currently majoring in Exercise Science.
