The 2011 Cal Lutheran Senior Athlete of the Year was also named United
States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America
Division III National Men's Field Athlete of the Year...also earned
United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
West Region Field Athlete of the Year and SCIAC Men's Track and Field
Player of the Year honors...at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and
Field Championships (May 26-28) Eric Flores successfully defended his
national title in the hammer throw, capturing his third consecutive
individual championship in as many years with his title-winning toss of
65.21m (213-11)...also set a new stadium record at Selby Field and George
Gauthier Track with that distance...Flores also won a national title in
the shot put (17.52m/57-5.75), earning his second outdoor championship
in as many days and third as a Kingsmen...earned All-American honors in
both the shot put and hammer throw by virtue of his finish at the NCAA
Outdoor Championships...set a new school record in the shot put
(18.04m/59-2.25) at SCIAC Quad Meet No. 1, and hammer (68.10m/223-5) at
the Cal/Nevada Championships...captured the individual title in the shot
put and hammer throw for the second consecutive season at the SCIAC
Championships (Apr. 29-30)...recorded a NCAA automatic qualifying mark,
and finished first in the shot put with his mark of 17.51m (57-5.50) at
the SCIAC Championships...in that same meet, Flores recorded the longest
distance ever thrown in the hammer en route earning his second NCAA
automatic qualifying mark and individual title at the SCIAC
Championships...the senior thrower also finished second in the discus with
his 47.69m (156-5) effort at the same event..named to the SCIAC
All-Conference team due to his finish in the shot put, discus, and
hammer throw at the SCIAC Championships...earned Cal Lutheran Athlete of
the Week honors on three occasions, receiving the honor during the
weeks of Mar. 21-27, Apr. 25-May 1, and May 23-29.
2010
Was the NCAA Division III National Champion and All-American in the
hammer throw with a championship record throw of 66.25 meters (217 feet,
8 inches)...was named the USTFCCCA Male Field Athlete of the Year...was
15th at the NCAA Championships in the shot put (15.61 meters)...broke
the NCAA Division III hammer throw record on May 14 at the CSLA Last
Chance meet with a throw of 67.31 meters (220 feet, 10 inches)...named
the SCIAC Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year...was the SCIAC
Champion in the hammer throw (64.16 meters) and shot put (16.91
meters)...took second at the SCIAC Championships in the discus (48.63
meters)...set CLU records in the hammer throw and shot put (17.28
meters) and posted second best discus mark in CLU history (48.63
meters)...was named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week three times (Mar.
1-7, Apr. 26 - May 2, May 3-9)...was named CLU Male Athlete of the Week
five times.
Black Hills State University
Member of track and field team from 2007-09...three-time NAIA national
champion including weight throw, hammer and shot put...transferred to
Cal Lutheran in 2009.
Concordia University-Portland
Attended school at CUP for one year...did not participate in intercollegiate athletics.
Custer High School
Varsity letterman in four sports for the Wildcats including four years
of track and field, three of soccer, two for basketball and a season of
football...three-time state champion in the shot put and all-around gold
medal winner...current state HS record holder in the shot, hammer and
weight throw...a seven-time HS All-American combined in those
disciplines.

Full name: Eric James Flores...born on December 30, 1986 in Custer,
S.D...the youngest of Joe and Diane Flores' five children...has three
sisters Amy, Yolie, and Danielle, and brother Joe Jr...family currently
resides in Oxnard, Calif...majoring in Exercise Science, minoring in
Pedigogy.
