2013 (Baseball) Season Stats
First-year player started all 23 games he appeared in before suffering a season-ending injury...playing primarily as CLU's centerfielder and lead-off man, Burton hit .382 with 34 hits (which led the team at the time of his injury)...had three doubles and two triples while scoring 16 runs...had eight multi-hit games including one four-hit and one five-hit game...had the game-winning RBI in a 5-4 upset of the No. 5 Whitworth in the season opener (Feb. 8)...was 4-for-5 with two RBIs against George Fox (Feb. 16)...went 5-for-5 with two runs scored and RBI in game one of the doubleheader with Redlands (Mar. 9)...in game two he collected three more hits and scored another run.

 

Southern Utah University
Attended SUU for one year, playing one season of baseball for the Thunderbirds…played in 34 games, starting 20, including an opening day start in left field…batted .169 with 14 hits, seven runs, and five RBIs…drew five walks…was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases…fielding percentage of .958 with 46 putouts…team was 18-36, 12-11 in the Big Sky Conference…baseball program was disbanded following 2012 season.

Graduated in 2008…earned nine varsity letters for the Kadets with four for baseball, four for basketball and one for football…named First Team All-Colorado Section in 2007 and 2008…two-time Colorado Springs Gazette First Team All-Area selection…three-time Colorado Springs All-Metro Conference selection…AAHS all-time leading scorer in basketball history with 1,349 points…part of 2007 CHSSA State finalist team for baseball…member of 2008 CHSSA State baseball runner up…credits his greatest personal sports moment as hitting a grand slam against his rival high school as a senior in high school.

Full name: Ronald Leon Burton Jr….born on May 26, 1989 in Dallas Tex…parents are Andrea and Ron Burton…three siblings, Ryan who plays football at the University of Kansas, Roya and Reid…father Ron played five seasons in the NFL for the Cowboys, Cardinals and Raiders…chose CLU for the opportunity to play warm weather baseball…currently majoring in Communications.
