Melissa Sanchez was hired as an assistant coach for women's basketball in the summer of 2021.
She has spent nine seasons coaching at the high school level, with three years being a head coach.
As the head coach at Pasadena High School, Sanchez took advantage of her opportunity. In the Division 1 level, she led the team to the second round of the playoffs in just her first year with the team in 2018-19. In 2019-20, the team was Pacific League Champions (first time in 14 years), playoff quarterfinalists and she was the San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year. The team continued to improve, going undefeated in 2020-21, winning the Pacific League, and went to the second round in playoffs. She graduated three All-Area players at Pasadena High and several players are currently at all levels and divisions from Division I to Junior College.
Before being a head coach, she was the assistant for four years at Burbank High School and two years at La Salle. In 2017-18, her team was the Santa Fe League Champions with an undefeated season.
