WHITTIER, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Regals visited the home of the Whittier College Poets, Friday afternoon, and returned home with a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, 7-2.
Beginning the afternoon with doubles, Brennan Foreman and Carolina Groff Hinojosa, No. three doubles, won 8-3.
No. two doubles, Christie Kurdys and JoAnn Taylor, added a win for the Regals, 8-1. Lastly, Lilijana Peters-Semak and Nicole Alvarez, No. one, rounded up doubles matchups by winning 8-6.
Continuing on to singles play, Hinojosa, No. five singles, swept her opponent 6-0 and 6-0; Alvarez, No. three, won 6-0 ad 6-2; and Joslin Seaburg, No. six singles, won 6-2 and 6-0.
After a tough first set, Kurdys, No. two singles, won 7-6 (3) and 6-3.
Foreman, No. four, won her first set 6-3, fell the second 6-3, taking her game to a tiebreaker. Foreman fell 10-4.
Semak, No. one singles, fell her first set 7-6, but came back the second 6-1, taking her game into a tiebreaker as well. Semak kept up with her opponent but fell 12-10 in the tiebreaker.
The Cal Lutheran Regals travel to Pomona-Pitzer, Saturday, April 13th, at 10 AM PST, for another SCIAC matchup.
