Johnson Names SCIAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Mason Johnson earned Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. This is Johnson's second SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor this year.

Johnson (Oxnard, Calif.) helped drive Cal Lutheran to a 90-82 victory over Loras in non-conference action. Johnson was 10-for-18 from the floor, knocked down both attempts from three-point range, and swished 6-of-9 from the free-throw line en route to 28 points. He also notched six rebounds, dished out a pair of helpers, and registered a steal in the eight-point victory for the Kingsmen.

Johnson has scored 20-plus points in six of the nine contests this season. He has shot 50-percent or better from the field in four games and leads the team with 21.6 points per game. His 28 points against Loras are his second highest this season. He scored 29 in a 74-61 win against Illinois Tech.

Cal Lutheran is back in action on Dec. 28 and 29 as they host the Kingsmen Classic.
