Texas Competition Highlights Regals Soccer 2019 Campaign

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Head Coach Frank Marino unveiled the 2019 Cal Lutheran Women's Soccer schedule, Tuesday morning, highlighted by tough non-conference competition from Texas leading into Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

"I am looking forward to the 2019 season as we truly have one of the toughest schedules in the country," said Marino, "but I like our mix of returners and incoming players, and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead of our team."

After opening the year with an exhibition contest against 101 Freeway-rival Westmont on August 23, the team heads to Texas to match up with Mary Hardin-Baylor on August 30 and No. 10 Hardin-Simmons the following evening. Cal Lutheran then returns to California the following week for its final two non-conference contests against Whitworth on September 6 and Greensboro on the 16th

"To play teams of that caliber in non-conference play will be a difficult task. Our conference opponents are incredibly strong as well and I am hoping the non-conference schedule will prepare us for what is ahead."

The Regals open SCIAC play at Whittier on September 18 and close against 2018 conference champions Occidental on October 30. Adding to the mix of strong conference opponents, Cal Lutheran faces No. 18 Trinity in an out-of-conference contest on October 27, wading the waters of playoff-level competition at the tail-end of their schedule.

The team finished 10-3-5 overall last season and 8-2-4 against conference opponents, making their 13th consecutive SCIAC Postseason Tournament appearance.
