VENTURA, Calif. — New records have been set for the Cal Lutheran women's golf team including lowest 36-hole tournament for a team and Claire Cornejo set the team record for lowest 36-hole tournament at the CA State Intercollegiate.
The Regals hosted the tournament on Monday and Tuesday with teams shooting 18 holes each day. The tournament consisted of nine teams and 54 individuals.
Cal Lutheran placed fourth as the Regals set the program record for lowest 36-hole score with 608. The Violet and Gold finished the first round with 307 and improved on day two for 301 strokes as they finished at 32-over-par.
C. Cornejo led the Regals and broke the individual 36-hole program record with a two-round score of 147. She tied for seventh and fired a 73 and then a 74 for a score of 3-over-par. She tied for the second best scoring average on Par 3 holes at the event with 2.88 and totaled the most Pars with 27.
Brooke Logsdon tied the fourth-best mark in school history for 36-holes as she shot 76 in the first round and 75 in the second for a total of 151 strokes. She tied for 11th at the tournament with 7-over-par. Logsdon was second on the team and sixth with the most Pars with 24.
Erica Mitchell, Grace Cornejo and Hannah Pasco rounded out the scoring for the team. Mitchell made it three Regals in the top-20 as she placed 18th at 10-over-par with 154 strokes (79-75). G. Cornejo and Pasco were neck-and-neck and were separated by just one stroke. G. Cornejo placed 29th at 15-over-par (78-81-159) and Pasco was 30th with 16-over-par (82-78-160). Mitchell and Pasco led the squad with five birdies each.
Competing individually for the Regals was Chloe Barnes, Tara Ng and Elizabeth King. Barnes placed 38th at 24-over-par (84-84-168), Ng tied for 39th with 25-over-par (83-86-169) and King tied for 42nd with 26-over-par (88-82-170).
The Regals continue their season at the Bulldogs Invitational. Cal Lutheran will be in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Saturday and Sunday.
