Kingsmen Earn Second Sweep; Take Down Whitworth

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The nationally ranked No. 32 California Lutheran University men's tennis team swept Whitworth (Wash.) 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Whitworth is in the West Region and it was a valuable for the Kingsmen. It was the second sweep of the year for Cal Lutheran as the men improved to 7-6.

The Purple and Gold opened the dual by sweeping doubles play. Darvel Lossangoye and Ryan Murphy were victorious at No. 1 singles 8-5, Parker McBride and Aaron Moylan swept their competition at the No. 2 spot 8-0 and Griffin Biernat and Jacob Bear took No. 3 singles 8-3.

The Kingsmen carried that momentum over to singles. McBride kept the winning streak going and took the No.2 spot 6-2, 6-1. Ben Vincze had deciding match and clinched the dual with a 6–1, 6–1 victory at No. 5 singles. 

Also in action and winning for the Kingsmen was Dominik Stefanov 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4, Nick Griffin 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6, Lossangoye 6-4, 5-7 10-6 at the No. 1 and Shawn Rothermel 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 3. 

The Kingsmen are now preparing for a conference match on Friday at Whittier at 3 p.m.
